1 – When you are having your consultation, ask your surgeon about the ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฑ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป of stay inย ย ย ย ย ย ย hospital once you have had your operation.
2 – Ask questions!
Make sure you know:

๐ธFrequency of wound dressing changes
๐ธ How soon you can start exercising
๐ธ If you need to adhere to a certain diet

3 –ย Make sure you get a ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ ๐น๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ describing the surgery you have had and any leaflets withย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย information that is relevant to your surgery and recovery.
4 – Before you go home, make sure that you know when your ๐ณ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฝ ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ is, what number toย ย ย ย call in case you have questions or concerns, where to go in case of emergency.
5 – Speak to your doctor about what medications you have to take after your discharge home, if youย ย ย ย ย ย ย can recommence your ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ด๐๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ (if you are on any) and which medications you are notย ย ย ย ย ย ย allowed to take immediately postop. You can ask for a list of your medications on the day of yourย ย ย ย ย ย discharge home.
6 – Keep your follow up appointments and make sure you follow any ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ป and advise you areย ย ย ย ย given.
7 – Prevent ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ ๐ถ๐ป๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ by abstaining from smoking, keeping your wound clean, follow any dย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย dietary advise that you are given.
8 – Factor in ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐๐น๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ถ๐๐ฒ such going for a walk everyday and spending as little time as possible inย ย ย ย ย ย ย bed after your operation when you are at home.
